The cooperative was established in 1997 by \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e1,150 farmers committed to reinvigorating coffee growing \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 1rem;\"\u003eand processing in their local area, reopening three historic \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 1rem;\"\u003efactories: Kii, Karimikui, and Kiangoi.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe factory itself sits in one of Kenya’s renowned coffee \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 1rem;\"\u003egrowing regions. Nutrient-rich volcanic soils, a consistent \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003esupply of fresh water from mountain streams, and high \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 1rem;\"\u003eelevation combine to create ideal conditions for arabica \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ecultivation. Clean water from the nearby Kii River is used \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ethroughout the washing process, contributing to the clarity \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 1rem;\"\u003eand precision the region is known for.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe blend brings together three distinct varieties, SL28, \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eSL34, and Ruiru 11. The SL selections, developed in Kenya \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003edecades ago, are celebrated for their complex fruit charac\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eter and bright acidity. Ruiru 11, a more recent hybrid bred \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003efor resilience, adds body and consistency to the blend.
