Kasese Station is located on a 20-acre plot along the banks of-the Mubuku River. This river flows from the glacial caps of theUpper Rwenzori Mountains all the way to Lake George. Alongits path, it winds through fertile farmland on the east-facing-slopes of the Rwenzori Mountain Range, past Kasese Station, and into Lake George and the broader African Great Lakes system
Cherries are delivered to the station daily, often via steep, muddy dirt roads. Upon arrival, they are floated and meticulously hand-sorted by trained staff before being laid on raised beds to dry.
For the production of these Naturals, they employed around 90 seasonal workers at the drying tables. These workers focus almost exclusively on caring for the drying cherries. They frequently turn and rake the cherries to promote even drying and visually inspect them to remove any damaged or defectivebeans. They also monitor weather conditions closely to protect the cherries from rain, excess moisture, and intense sunlight.Drying typically takes between 18 and 24 days, depending on the environmental conditions.
