This coffee comes to us through the Kataleya project. It’s a project with a mission of experimenting with sustainable and regenerative processing methods.

Tito Cachay is one of the featured farmers of this project. Tito grows Geisha coffee on about 5 hectares of land at 1,800 meters above sea level. His farm sits in a valley named after the Kataleya orchid, which has a rich presence in the area. The valley acts like a pocket in the mountain range, naturally collecting vast amounts of fog and mist, creating a perfect microclimate that keeps everything green and lush. Tito grows his Geisha completely free from synthetic inputs, in a well-shaded canopy in harmony with birds, bees, and of course, an abundance of Kataleya orchids.

In terms of processing, once the cherries are picked, they are brought down to a micro wet mill where they’re pulped, fermented for over 30 hours, and finally washed in natural mountain spring water. The result is a cup described as clear, juicy, and vibrant.
