Finca El Mirador has been in Elkin Guzman’s family for over 70 years, inherited from his mother, Fanny Vargas. After studying agricultural engineering, he now operates the farm with a methodical and science-driven approach that ensure consistency across every harvest.
The farm is nestled between the Central and Eastern ranges of the Andes. The soils are a rich combination of sandy loam and clay loam with a strong reserve of humus and organic matter, giving the coffee trees deep, sustained nutrition. A semi-shade growing system regulates temperature and encourages slower, more even cherry ripening, creating ideal conditions for producing coffees with depth, complexity, and expressive character.
The Striped Red Bourbon is a rare, naturally occurring mutation of the classic Bourbon coffee variety featuring striking orange stripes on fully ripened red cherries.
After picking, the coffee is depulped the same day and fermented in open-air tanks for 12–36 hours before being thoroughly washed and dried. The washed process keeps the cup precise and transparent, allowing for the terroir and variety to express themselves fully.
