Located in southwest Colombia, Huila is nestled in-between the central and eastern ranges of the Andes, within the area called the Magdalena Valley. The variation in elevation results in Huila being one of the most unique and complex region for coffee in Colombia. It representes 20% of the country’s production while 80% of the producers operators on less than 3 hectares.
Finca El Faldon is managed by Luis Felipe, his brother Arnulfo and Arnulfo’s son Diego. The Legiuzamo brothers are members of the association Los Naranjos gathering 50 to 100 families to better farming techniques and the access to international market.
In 2011, they won the Cup of Excellence Price with their farm gaining recognition for their exceptional, clean and structured washed lots.
This lot is a gesha varietal, a derivative from Ethiopian Landrace varieties collected by the British in 1930. When planted in Colombia’s volcanic soil, it produces tea-like body with intense floral aromatics and stone fruit sweetness. The coffee is washed to keep the sweetness and crisp acidity it has to offer.
